Why are we running out of fuel? Why do species face the threat of extinction? Why is it difficult to acquire money than to spend it? Why do we die and perish? The answer to all these baffling questions lies in the second law of thermodynamics.
The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that 'entropy' is a quantity representing the unavailability of a system's thermal energy for conversion into mechanical work. Over the years, the word has been used to define the lack of order and discipline and as a gradual decline into disorder.
In simple terms, Entropy means that we, the entire universe, is moving from a state of order into a state of disorder, from life to death. A simple example can be illustrated through an ice cube. An ice cube, from its initial state of solidified water with a definite shape turns into water spilled all over the place with no definite contours. That is entropy, from order to chaos, from discipline to confusion, from promise to doom.
We all face entropy. We all age day by day waiting for the end of our lives. We all witness the vices overpowering the virtues. We all spectate the increasing tension between members of the societies. And now that we have an explanation to this tendency of order to turn into disorder, we have to accept it and try to slow the process down.
As mentioned in the religious scriptures of Jainism where the timeline has been divided into 6 time frames where after every frame, the situation gets worse - the sun of wisdom, kindness and bliss are gradually shadowed by the clouds of imprudence, sinister and deception ; entropy will always follow its definite course and we will, if not sooner but later, face the consequences in disarray. Rather than spit it out and render it false, we must digest it and brainstorm over how we can slow it. If you don't believe it, just look at the American Presidential elections; we have witnessed great Presidents Abraham Lincoln in the past, followed by Ronald Reagan who had his differences but never handled them with malice over others and then we have seen Presidents like Barack Obama and George Bush who were not completely righteous in their work but Principal with their principles. And look at the current candidates - Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. See where I am going?
Entropy increases with time. We cannot stop or slow down time, can we? But we can always try not to speed it up. Our actions lead to the future consequences. Bad actions will bring the apocalypse closer and vice versa. To reduce energy waste, machines are greased. Similarly, the universe and all its fragments have to be treated with care and love and science instead of the persecution of the world through politics, pollution and the unnecessary pestering of things which are unknown to us. We cannot simply reinstate order in the universe, right from the big bang, our universe has led itself into disorganisation falling a prey to entropy.
